State rules that have hindered development projects for decades also can help ease California's housing crunch, several industry leaders said Thursday. The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast hosted the Santa Maria Valley Housing Summit at the Santa Maria Country Club . About 80 people attended the Thursday afternoon event. 'I think the notion that we don't have enough housing is well received,' said Craig Minus, director of the Coastal Housing Coalition a nd owner of CAM Land Use & Development .
